What a wonderful adventure and spectacular sights!!!
"As Above, As Below" - could this be the model for our painting?
Below is Camel Butte.
Creek Bed - still wet after the monsoons!
Did You Know?
Here's something we learned from our Navaho guide:
When the snow comes to the valley the sun warms and
melts it causing the water to flow into the crevices in the rock. At night the temperature drops below freezing and
the water turns to ice expanding in the crevice. After years of this, the crevice separates the column of rock from
the main monolith and weakened by this constant freezing and thawing, the column collapses breaking away from the main structure.
That's why there appears to be so much rubble at the base of these structures and in time they will all be eroded away!!!
